Alyson Quirke knows the world intimately. She's been married five times, has six children, four still living, fifteen grandchildren, fourty-two great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. And she's the editor-in-chief ot the Daily Prophet.
Born in 1855 to Mercutio and Lutetia Black, Alyson was married in 1873 just out of Hogwarts to Antius Malfoy. Antius was killed in a duel in early 1874, to Alyson's relief, and she speedily remarried Joscelyn Weasley. They had three children, and were very happy until Joscelyn died at the untimely age of 34. But Alyson proceeded to marry Christopher Warbeck, Alan Macpherson, and Patroclus Quirke.
She is currently unmarried.
Alyson took over the Daily Prophet in 1979, after the former editor-in-chief absconded with a large chunk of the budget. She receives a pittance for her work, but has knocked the paper into financial shape, and she hopes, provided a good deal of entertainment along the way. She hates the Death Eaters, she's a good friend of Dumbledore's, and believes that an essential part of good government is a vocal press, and is surprised when Ministry employees feel hurt after having their departments lambasted in the Prophet.
